Hera Arms Steel Nightmare 2022

Hera Steel Nightmare 2022 took place July 15-17, 2022 in Philippsburg. We were there to accompany the event.

What started as an idea in 2019 has now become an indispensable competition in sportive shooting. The Hera Steel Nightmare has now been held in Philippsburg for the fourth time in a row, and the event has continued to grow every year. A total of eight stages were now available to the shooters, which offered a lot of variety, fun and a challenge.

But what actually is the Hera Steel Nightmare? This is a sporting competition that is short according to the BDS (Association of German Sport Shooters) Speed Steel rules. As the name suggests, it’s all about steel targets. Anyone who has ever shot at steel will certainly only have positive things to say about it: no other target shows the shooter so quickly and directly whether he has hit or not, and the sound of the projectile impact creates unsurpassed satisfaction.

The Hera Steel Nightmare can be shot with a pistol (open or optical sights) and/or a rifle in handgun caliber as well as a shoulder stock for handguns. The aim is to hit different steel targets within a time limit (individually per division – e.g. 40 seconds pistol / 30 seconds rifle).
